Rosewood ( Botanical Name Dalbergia Latifolia)

The Rosewood is the very valuable tropical wood for chess products. Many of our   chess pieces and chess board designs are made out of Natural Rosewood which is also known Sheeshu wood in India. The Rosewood comes in many different colors like purple, dark purple, Red color and various shades of purple to red and even we have found three different color shades in one log of the wood which you can also notice in the picture. The Rosewood is very beautiful and extraordinary wood with black stripes and grains on it.

We are using Rosewood for manufacturing several of luxury Chess pieces and chess boards because the wood has straight grains and it is very smooth for turning or shaving on the machines. We do not process anything else except drying it.

The Rosewood is hardwood which has ability to carve even sharp edges very finely. The Rosewood is beautiful and easy to do any level of difficult craftsmanship on it. The wood becomes more rich and beautiful after the natural polish or lacquering.

The chess Empire is using only dead dry wood purchased directly from Government or Authentic dealers with all certificates. We choose only A Grade Wood material for all our chess products. We are not using any green trees or unauthorized woods. The Wood is a natural product which can crack or warp naturally.
