Boxwood is the most useable tropical wood for chess products. Our all light color chess pieces are made out of Natural Boxwood which is also known as Papada wood, Dikamali wood and Kurlu wood in India. The Boxwood comes in light cream color with yellowish stripes on it. The Boxwood becomes darker and gives antique look after few years.

We are using Boxwood for manufacturing all our luxury Chess pieces because the wood has straight grains and it is very smooth for turning or shaving on the machines. We do not process anything else except drying it.

Boxwood is hardwood which has ability to carve even sharp edges very finely. There are various kind of woods available in light color but Boxwod is the only wood which is exceptionally beautiful and easy to do any level of difficult craftsmanship on it .

The chess Empire is using only dead dry wood purchased directly from Government or Authentic dealers with all certificates. We choose only A Grade Wood material for all our chess products. We are not using any green trees or unauthorized woods. The Wood is a natural product which can crack or warp naturally.
